I would really like to make a few pennies or dollars on this site, and being a fan of google and how they advertise I researched how they do it and found Adsense.
Basically you sign up for an account, select the types of ad you want to use on your site, add a little code, and viola, you are off and running. Google has tools that can help you configure your site and make sure that google bots can index and get access to your site.
Adsense is really pretty cool. I like it because the ads that are shown are targeted to what you have written about. Readers will look and see the ads, and more likely click on a related ad link. The more users click on these ads the more money you make. Pretty nice.
However, a warning; if you click on adsense for your own sites google can shut down adsense….actually disable your adsense account and prevent you from getting any money. They do this to prevent people from signing up and simply clicking on the ads displayed.
This almost happened to me. I like the form of ads that Google has, text with no graphics, and I will click on these. Actually I will only click on google ads because they really do target what you are reading or searching. However, I did that on my website too and made some money. Not alot fortunately. That is when I found out that Google can disable accounts.
When I realized that, I did two things. First I sent an email to google saying oops I accidentally clicked on my ads and asked them to correct the issue. I next changed the code so that I don’t see the ads from places I frequently browse. So far google hasn’t credited the money back, but they also haven’t disabled my account either. I’m still worried that google might disable it though, but since I contacted them early and the amount was small hopefully that will be enough to keep my account going.
Now another warning, if I know you and you see the ads, please restrain yourself and don’t click on the ads. Friends and family clicks can also get an account disabled. Basically too many clicks from one location is really all it takes to get an account disabled. I can add you to the list so you don’t get the ads either. Just send email to me.
